kermit the frog is a beautiful yet terrifying individual

i’ve been seeing a lot of posts about Rooney Mara as Tiger Lily and that’s a really terrible thing, so i’d like to bring attention to NBC’s Peter Pan Live, which seems like a really awesome thing and airs December 4th
NBC actually actively sought out Native American actresses to play Tiger Lily and cast Alanna Saunders of Cherokee descent for the role, which is a lot better than what Pan is doing with casting Rooney Mara
and it looks like just a really enjoyable production?? i mean, it’s a musical that went with the stage tradition of casting a woman as Peter Pan that also stars Christopher Walken as Captain Hook (Christopher Walken?? in a musical???? as a flamboyant pirate??????) and an actual Native American girl playing Tiger Lily
please give this the ratings it deserves, please watch this production, it looks to be so much better than Pan could ever hope to be
Watch this instead of Pan.
Let’s all watch this
Also:
“Ugg-a-Wugg,” a number for Peter Pan and Tiger Lily, featured lines like “the brave noble red skin” and a chorus of made-up, “Native American”-sounding phrases like “gugg-a-bluck.” The song is now now called “True Blood Brothers,” a lyric in the original version.
“Amanda has consulted with our Native American consultant [Jerod Tate], just in terms of replacing ‘Ugg-a-Wugg’ with something more traditionally Native American—which has been approved by them and the rights holders. Now and forever, this will hopefully be the version [in the show],” Meron said. So, in case you were wondering about that part.
I am so glad that they ditched that song. Wondering what they were going to do about that song was holding me back from reblogging this post before.
Now anyone else who was worried about that song can be relieved.
Seriously, if you are a survivor of abusive relationships you should check spoilers and be careful if you want to romance Sera. Especially as an Elf.
Some of the stuff she says is textbook psychological abuse and could trigger people.
more of you reblog this.
this is important for abuse survivors in this fandom.
More of my Brahda Cadash, who is finally at Skyhold and even more confused about how to feel over the whole Herald thing.

Annnnd another one.
Now can you tell me how anything they said last night should be seen as credible? Why should I trust any “Evidence” or “Facts” they presented again?? And how is it you don’t know about the history the United States of America has with falsifying narratives to (character) assassinate Black people and their movements??

“Your job — as students who are receiving an education — is to be aware of your privilege. And use this particular privilege called “education” to do your best to achieve great things, all the while advocating for those in the rows behind you.”
you don’t want to see posts about ferguson? well me neither. i don’t want to see unarmed black people being murdered, i don’t want to see kids being shot by the people they were taught to trust, i don’t want to see white cops being rewarded for it all. but it’s real. it’s happening. just because we don’t want to see it doesn’t mean we can ignore it. ignoring it won’t make it go away.
Potent minimalist art sends a strong message about police and vigilante brutality in America
Journalist and artist Shirin Barghi has created a gripping, thought-provoking series of graphics that not only examines racial prejudice in today’s America, but also captures the sense of humanity that often gets lost in news coverage. Titled “Last Words,” the graphics illustrate the last recorded words by Brown and other young black people — Trayvon Martin, Oscar Grant and others — who have been killed by police in recent years.
The worst part is that we all knew what the end result was going to be before the trial began because he’s a white police officer. Yet we hoped to be proven wrong.
honestly this is really not the time to be reblogging things from to kill a mockingbird or the hunger games. connecting the works of yt ppl (esp those that continue to focus on yt ppl) to irl racism is messy to begin with but it really has no place rn. exercise some sensitivity in reblogging in the light of anti-black racism of today’s ferguson non-indictment.
based on comments about the hunger games especially, we have repeatedly seen folks find it easier to sympathize with fictional white people than actual black people
let’s not do that shit again. this is antiblackness, this is extrajudicial murder and modern-day lynching, this is state-sponsored terrorism that affects real people and murders real people; let’s not make it about FICTION right now, especially not fictional white people for christ’s sake
