As a feminist parent, I love this type of ad. I’m so tired of everything for girls being pink. Can we see a some more girls like this please?! And also, look at the positive parenting message here. It gives the parents a little understanding of what is developmentally appropriate for a child, and how to support and encourage their creativity. Go Lego in 1981!

1981

HOW REFRESHING IS THIS?! Oh my God, am I dreaming?! A girl without makeup holding a house of Legos instead of a pink dreamhouse or a princess wand, I can’t even…!

I love how the ad talks about a child/children instead of boys or girls (and I bet that’s also intentionally inclusive).

I love this so much.

Always reblog!

Legos are strictly marketed to boys now and it makes me want to cry. This ad was perfect.

Little Aveline!

Ha! Totally looks like a wee Aveline.

I love this ad. I loved my Legos as a kid (I collected knights and pirates, mainly). I hate how, these days, all the building toys are gendered male in advertising. Girls like to build things, too! Even as a kid, I hated gendered toy aisles because they, like the ads that went with them really policed the definition of “play” for girls and boys.

If I ever raise a child, kid is definitely getting some Legos. And stuff from whatever toy aisle they want to get it from.

[Three stick figures (in shades of tan and brown) stand beneath a representation of a Debate, contributing to the Meaningful Issue with their Sharing of Personal Experience and Expression of Anger. A pale peach-colored stick figure off to the side sees this, reacts with a !!! of indignation, runs over, takes hold of the Debate, drags it away from the other stick figures, and jumps into the middle of it. We conclude on FUCK WHITE PEOPLE. :)]

[No actual white people were harmed in the making of this GIF.]

[If seeing the words “fuck white people :)” on the internet upsets you, you may wish to take a moment to consider the impact of a lifetime of being told “fuck all people who aren’t white” through actions.]

The only thing upsetting about “fuck white people” is that white people keep doing things that WARRANT People of Color saying “fuck white people.” Every time I see it used, it is in a situation where “fuck white people” makes all too perfect sense.

When the NYPD performed a militarized raid of Zuccotti Park on November 15, 2011, they threw the 5,554 books in the People’s Library (and the tent, donated by author Patti Smith) into a trash compactor. In response to the outrage over the destruction of books, Bloomberg’s office tweeted a disingenuous picture of the books and laptops being “safely stored” at the Department of Sanitation. However, when #OWS librarians arrived with an inventory of the books, they confirmed that most of the books were missing or damaged or soiled beyond use because of the trash compactor.

This is what a police state looks like.

Bloomberg must go.

They’re like…C cups on the basic human female model, right? Isn’t that average? And they aren’t made an unnecessary focus, what with chainmail bikini armor and such.

Sorry…are you just condemning the creators for making female characters with average-sized breasts? Because it is okay for characters to have breasts. Even breasts that you might consider to be “ridiculously massive,” because we’ve yet to see a time when said breasts have been put in a truly objectifying context in-game.

Most boobs in Dragon Age are C or lower, I would guess. Except Isabela’s. And maybe dwarves, but I haven’t looked at the female dwarf models recently.

I’m also trying to figure out where in DA:O or Awakening this screen might be from, because I cannot for the life of me remember ever seeing an NPC with that dress and it’s bugging me.

SAME. Who is this special snowflake NPC in her custom outfit? Doesn’t she know that if she wants to fit in she needs to wear one of the same three or four dresses everyone else has on?

I am actually thinking it’s not even a DA screenshot, based solely on her face and hands. And also the random hooded guy in the background. Now I have to search this vgblogger.com until I figure out what it’s from. Curse you, confessions blog! (I typo’d that as “confessions bog” at first, which is actually rather appropriate for most of the “confessions”)
