Women who are too sexual aren’t taken seriously, and women who aren’t sexual enough aren’t taken seriously. Women who are conventionally attractive get valued solely for their sexual appeal; women who aren’t conventionally attractive get dismissed for their lack of it. Women who are conventionally attractive are assumed to be dumb bimbos; women who aren’t conventionally attractive are assumed to be either bitter or desperate. Women who are conventionally attractive get trivialized; women who aren’t conventionally attractive get treated with pity and contempt. We can’t win.

The system is still broken. Misogyny is still an issue. If you don’t do/wear/act like X, you aren’t a “real woman.” But if you do wear/act/do X, you might be a “slut” or a “bimbo” or any number of other things. And heaven forbid you not conform to the accepted gender norms.

However, in DA:O, all gifts (except the prank ones) get you brownie points, whereas in DA2, giving gifts can further your Rivalry.

Alistair Disapproves —> “Here, have some cake.” —> Alistair Approves. Which is really kind of hilarious to me.

That is something I dislike about DA 2. I don’t know if it’s the dialogue options I choose or what, but pretty much every gift I’ve given has been met with “Aveline -15” or whatever. I thought you’d like it! I’m sorry!

Aww, Aveline, y u no like gift? That happened with my main Diplo Lady Hawke and Merrill. After not giving her the arulin’holm, she gave her the halla carving and got a ton of rivalry.

The message, I think, that was spoken is valid and point-driving, but the cultural appropriation and whatnot is rather appalling and kind of belittles what was spoken.

Probably worth noting that they were forced into those appropriative roles and outfits.

It’s also worth noting that the film really sort of highlighted this appropriation by having the camp councilors who wrote the script completely fail by making Pocahontas and the other well-known named male Native American (I have not watched the scene lately and do not remember who they used) Chippewas because of the camp name, when those tribes lived no where near Massachusetts and those two Native Americans did not belong to an Ojibwe tribe. It’s really a scene that, to me, is all about how out-of-touch rich, stereotypically WASP-y people are.

I like bisexual LIs, but I agree with this. Not every person is going to be bisexual. And I never did like getting ninjamanced. xD

I just think, if there’s going to be pure heterosexual LIs, there should also be pure homosexual LIs as well. 8D Maybe in the future, we can see LIs of all sorts of orientations. ^ ^

Okay, first of all, please read what everyone else has wrote on this topic.

Second of all, real question time: is “ninjamancing” really a common problem? Not counting Leliana, who has a bug in her post-Marjolaine quest dialogue script that makes her believe a female Warden has initiated romance with her, are the flirtatious dialogue options really ambiguous?

I had a “ninjamance” issue with Merrill, but that was when Merrill was a bit buggy anyway. I do not remember ever flirting with her (my Lady Hawke only had eyes for Isabela), but I got hardcore rivalry with her after not giving her the tool she needed and instead giving her a gift and she showed up unexpectedly.

I thought it was kind of cool though, as that Hawke spent the next several missions wondering if Isabela would hand her her ass after breaking Kitten’s heart.

Look, straighties. We get it. You are butt devastated that you aren’t the only people whose desires were considered in DA2. You’re limited imaginations are incapable of conceiving a world where more than one non heterosexual might exist within a twenty mile radius of each other, let alone all spend time together as friends and allies. This situation is beyond your understanding, and that makes you angry.

Every time you come out with that “but it’s not realistic” whiny bullshit, you are A.) making yourself look like an ass B.) undermining the lack of LGBTQ representation in media C.) bothering fucking everybody by being annoying and redundant D.) overlooking the fact that these games take place in a made-up fantasy world where there are dragons and mages and that you do not know shit about what is “realistic” there in terms of sexual identity.
