I’ve just been reading people freaking out at Target in the US no longer labeling their toys “girls” and “boys”. A fairly common response is something like “How will I know what to get my granddaughter for her birthday if I don’t know which are the girl’s toys?” Hmm, well, what does your granddaughter like? Maybe you could actually get to know her and find out what her interests are rather than treating her as a generic representative of her assigned gender. Just a thought.

The argument that asexuality is not a real or legitimate sexuality because “sex is a biological need,” or something similarly worded, is bullshit.

It is also one step away from saying “reproduction is a biological imperative,” which implies sex is primarily done for reproduction…which kind of rules out a lot of the LGBTQIA community as well as people who, ya know, have no desire to ever reproduce or are sex-repulsed for whatever reason.

You cannot survive without consuming nutrients and liquids. You CAN survive without sex.
