It can be done. Person of Interest is doing it. Openly, without apology or self-aggrandizing fanfare, but rather with a simple shrug as if to say, “Yeah. Why wouldn’t we? It makes sense, improves the show, and our two actresses have ‘pinch me, I’m dreaming’ kind of chemistry.”

the thing is she lets all the words shaw say to her go in one ear and out the other because root knows that the words shaw says to her hold no meaning instead root watches what shaw does her facial expressions the way she moves her smirks her sighs root’s in tune with all of that knows when to push and knows when to back off without shaw having to use her words so yeah maybe she’s bad at listening shaw but that’s only because she’s too busy watching you and really that’s all that really matters to you right? #this is probably my favourite thing about Shaw in relation to Root #in my head Root is a Cassandra-like prophet #and again and again we see Harold not listening to what she says #and then everyone suffering the consequences #but Shaw ~listens #every single time #she scoffs and rolls her eyes and grunts and acts as if she doesn’t care #but never once has she failed to listen to Root #and I think that’s both intensely beautiful #and crucial to the development of Root’s feelings (via ohthesefeelingz)

it’s absolutely part of why root fell so hard for shaw. entirely on accident. she sought vengeance for hanna for over a decade because nobody listened to her. so when shaw comes along and grumbles at root’s over the top flirting to mess with her. but listens so well to everything root says. root never even stood a chance. root x shaw. these two idiots are perfect for each other.
