A surprising number of Americans leave their handguns in place where toddlers can get to them and are then in turn shot by them, or the toddler accidentally shoots another child, or the toddler accidentally shoots themself. One woman was shot and killed by her toddler while shopping because the kid found the handgun in her purse.
