Because that last kind is really unnerving and discomfiting on multiple levels, while the first kind is merely worth an eye roll.

why do so many people want to take lesbian representation/headcanons away and make rey Ace™️ i mean i can understand people wanting her to be bi but making rey ace just seems like a way to be homophobic AND racist by avoiding shipping her with women or finn.. idk its just Suspicious to me

Having a different headcanon for Rey (as long as you are not ACTIVELY SHITTING ON other headcanons), does not take away from people having those headcanons; those people can totally still have those headcanons.

It just shows how many people need positive characters like Rey to see themselves in.
