hey guys i hate to do this

ryanro:

but i dont really know what to do anymore.

so the other day after much interrogation, i was forced to come out as trans to my parents. they weren’t happy about it, and now i have to be out of the house at the latest, after new years. i do have a job and i will be working more hours, but im also a college student, and, in kicking me out, my parents are also making me pay them back for things they covered before i outed myself, this includes: car payments, tuition payments, bills, and they are going to charge me rent to stay in their house until i move out.

i’d like to stay in school but at this point i’d like to just have a place to live. and with all these expenses they’re going to throw at me, i don’t have enough to even get me started. i just need to get on my feet, and after that, im certain i can get through this on my own.

its awful here. it has been for years. moving out will be one of the best things i can do for myself.

i dont have a lot to offer, but i do draw, so i can offer commissions.

you can help me by maybe buying one?? but you can also just donate if youre feeling particularly generous but im not asking for a hand out. you can also just help by signal boosting/reblogging this. ill appreciate anything really.

Fic: A Promise Kept

One of my favorite quests in Origins was “Zerlinda’s Woe,” largely because of what Zerlinda says if convince her father to take her AND her baby back into the family: “If this were a story, my son would grow to manhood and pledge himself as a knight in your service. When he grows up, I will send him to you. I promise!”

I get misty-eyed just looking at that.

She’s so grateful; it’s a HUGE deal for her father to take both of them back because of the dwarven caste system. And it’s poignant, because I think she actually means it, and by the time the boy is old enough to go topside on his own, the Warden won’t have that many years left before her/his Calling.

So I started doing an AU based on the idea that Zerlinda does indeed send her son to the Warden when he’s grown. I haven’t named him yet, and I haven’t fleshed out what Thedas is like in timeline where the Warden stayed on as Warden-Commander of Amaranthine, but here’s the part I’ve written already.

“Warden-Commander? There’s a…young dwarf here to see you.”

Kyra Cousland looked up from the map spread out on her desk. “Well, what does he want, captain?”

“He says you saved his life when he was an infant–that you convinced his grandparents to take him and his mother back in, even though he was born casteless.” The captain smiled slightly. “I don’t think he’s ever been on the surface before, Ser. He seems about half a step from passing out and can’t seem to manage to take his eyes off the ground for very long.”

Kyra’s brow furrowed in thought. A casteless baby…yes. She remembered that. It was during her trip to rally the dwarves to the Wardens’ cause. Twenty years ago. Long enough for that baby to become a young man. His mother–what was her name?–had said something about knights and stories and sending the child to her one day. Kyra hadn’t put much stock in it at the time–it was just the ramblings of a thankful mother, she’d thought. But now it seemed that the woman had meant it as a promise, if this was that child grown to manhood.

“Show him in, captain. And have some brandy brought in. It might help his nerves.”

“Yes, Ser.”

Kyra walked to the fireplace and gazed into the flames. What would she do with this lad? His mother had made and kept a promise; Kyra couldn’t very well reject the woman’s gratitude.

guys

greytaliesin:

stop being afraid to mention your wardens/draw them

seriously

why are the only people who like talking about their wardens purveyors of sparkly femcouslands

I should do more with mine. Because my femTabris is an understandably cranky little bundle of angst who is still suspicious of male humans on principle (though she’s got a small soft spot for Anders now that I have her in Awakening and he was in a similar situation she was in re: get recruited or your life is going to suck even more), and  because damnit, femCousland/Alistair is NOT the only “right” pairing for femCousland, tyvm. Mine had a crush on Morrigan, then fell head-over-heals for Leliana. And also pairings are not the end-all-be-all of a Warden’s existence, even if they are rather nice.

I have an AU involving my femCousland and Zerlinda’s son that I need to do more with sometime.

just admit it guys, you’re all 100% heterosexual

i refuse to believe y’all are queer because that’s like not possible

Also, Tuchanka is a straight girl who vehemently ships random dudes together, and thus has no right to decide when homophobic slurs are offensive. Let’s not forget that part.

And I’m clearly a failure as a straight girl, because I don’t vehemently ship random dudes, or vehemently ship random straight people. I prefer to ship awesome ladies with other awesome ladies.

Wow you need to stop talking because you are really stretching the boundaries of realism and before you know it the Broodmother might get her own social justice blog.

I know! I must seriously be a figment of my own imagination or something.

This is one of the things that bothered me a lot about DA2.
Not ALL people are bisexual, gay, or lesbian.

Is this supposed to be something that people do not know? I can assure you that yes, people are aware that straight people exist.  As I have previously said, it’s kind of difficult for me to forget straight people exist because a lot of the people rallying and actively attempting to deny me rights just happen to be straight! This is not to say all straight people do that—it would be a terrible misconception on my part, because hey, it’s not true.  But y’know all those politicians pushing solid anti-LGBT rhetoric, the people voting for them, and the homophobic people actively working to make life harder for queer people?  They happen to be straight.  It’s a bit hard for me to, you know, forget that.

But you know what though, if you play just about any other game… everyone is straight.  DA, DA2, ME2, Persona 2 and one of the Fallout games (idr which one atm) are the only exceptions coming to me off of the top of my head.  Up until I played DA, that’s how things were—if there was any kind of romantic subplot, it was 100% heterosexual, 100% of the time.  Occasionally it would be some vaguely homoerotic thing played up for the $$$ that finishes with a big whoppin’ NO HOMO.

So y’know, there are worse things than queer people feeling comfortable and normal because they’re playing a game with a fair amount of queer companions.  Not all of your companions are even queer.  Not even all of the LIs are.

It’s an escapist fantasy game where people were granted the option to play the way they wanted to.  Why does someone always need to roll up and be like THAT AIN’T REALISTIC THERE ARE STRAIGHT PPL TOO. Why.

The thing is, all of the romance options in DA2 ARE bisexual.
I have nothing against peoples’ sexual orientations, they can do whatever the fuck they want when they want to and that goes with anything.

But, what are the chances that all of them would be bisexual?
The only companions that aren’t romanceable are the straight characters.

And, I never said there was anything wrong with someone being comfortable with their sexuality nor do I honestly care. It’s up to that person to decide how they feel about themselves. And I never in any way said it was wrong to feel that way.

tldr; I have nothing against gays/bisexuals/lesbians.
I just pointed out that not everyone is that way. (Which I’m fully aware that people already know.)

Aveline is not-romanceable, but she’s also not as straight as a lot of people seem to assume. If femHawke flirts with her throughout the wooing Donnic questline, Aveline will ask Hawke if she thinks, had things been different, there could have been something (the implication is clearly a romantic something) between them.

Also, as other people have pointed out, Sebastian is a hetero-and-only-hetero romance option.

Fuck Yeah Aveline: Fact: I would pay someone to draw this.

Merrill: Is it a lot of fun being a guard?
Aveline: I don’t think the city guard is right for you, Merrill.
Merrill: I’ve read all about it in Varric’s guard serial! I could be your partner! We could fight crime…

I would watch the hell out of an Aveline and Merrill cop show. It would be nice to have another cop show where both halves of the main detective pair are female.
