I spent so much time in Early Modern and Medieval English lit that between that and Mass Effect, I have to think really hard about how to spell that word that means “person who herds sheep.”

Because I will spell it wrong if my full concentration is not on it.

Notice how I did not even bother trying to spell it just now.

THOU = “YOU” WHEN YOU’RE FUCKING DOING SOMETHING.

THEE = “YOU” WHEN YOU’RE HAVING SOMETHING FUCKING DONE TO YOU.

THY = “YOUR” AND “YOURS” WHEN THE THING YOU OWN BEGINS WITH A FUCKING VOWEL.

THINE = “YOUR” AND “YOURS” WHEN THE THING YOU OWN BEGINS WITH A FUCKING CONSONANT.

IF YOU’RE GOING TO MAKE SHITTY OLD ENGLISH TEXT POSTS, DO IT RIGHT.

ST/EST ending = “you” verbs.

TH/ETH ending = “she/he/it” verbs.

NO ENDING FOR “I” VERBS.

“old english”

if you want to be a pretentious dick about obsolete pronoun forms, at least be pretentious the right way

I’m open to hearing corrections.
I’m all for the learning (is it “middle”?).

It’s actually Early Modern English. Early Modern is sometimes called Elizabethan English, so think Shakespeare.

Middle English is a lot less regular about spelling. Think Chaucer.

Old English is super not like our English. Think Beowulf
