That moment when you have the sensation that your cheeks and eyeballs are burning, but you’re not sure if your blood sugar is high or if having all four seasons in one is just screwing with your allergies.

Both options are equally likely as the weather went from Ice Ice Baby to You Could Almost Be Comfortable in Short Sleeves in…less than a week.

Dragon Age Fandom Survey

fanthropologist:

Hello everyone!

My name is Steph, and I’m a graduate student in anthropology.  For my PhD, I am studying Dragon Age fandom on Tumblr and I’m looking for your help.

I am inviting all Dragon Age fans over 18 years of age to complete an anonymous survey on the Dragon Age games and fandom.  It is estimated to take 20 minutes to complete.

The survey is completely anonymous.   It will help me to answer questions about the characteristics of people who are involved with Dragon Age fandom, and what they like about the Dragon Age games and fandom.

If you would like to help out, please go to https://apollo.anu.edu.au/apollo/default.asp?pid=7915 to complete the survey.

The survey will remain open until 31 March 2014 AEST.

Thank you, and please reblog to spread the word!!

I have finally released my Dragon Age fandom survey!

Please consider completing the survey (it is completely anonymous) and/or signal boost it by reblogging!

Thank you everyone for your friendship and interest in my project to date!

Dragon Age Fandom Survey

It’s hard. But sometimes you find things make you feel…a little hopeful.

So this month–this week, actually, I think–marks the 16th anniversary of my diagnosis with type 1 diabetes.

Tonight I stumbled across this post (I almost reblogged it, but one of the pictures seems to be not actually for World Diabetes day, according to Google Image Search; the post also only highlighted type 1, and World Diabetes Day is for all people with diabetes, not just those with type 1) and I just cried. Because lighting up monuments for World Diabetes Day is something I didn’t know about, and the fact that people would agree to do that for a chronic illness that is too often reviled and misunderstood…I don’t have a word for how that makes me feel. “Touched” isn’t strong enough. Neither is “moved” any other word that might be used for it.

There are no words only tears of deep gratitude that someone in charge of the care of these monuments would be willing to do this, whatever their personal thoughts or motives might have been.

It seems like such a little thing, but it’s huge to me.

Here’s an article from 2007 about the first World Diabetes Day that has more pictures of more monuments.

never forget that not being patriarchally feminine doesn’t mean you’re not a woman

your butchness/gender non compliance does not invalidate your experiences as a woman

tomboys, butch girls, girls who don’t conform to patriarchal femininity: you are normal. there is nothing wrong with you. be proud of who you are and remember that being a woman is about how you experience the world, not fucking makeup and dresses

A commission for the lovely Penny W of Lirael and Sabriel of the Old Kingdom Trilogy written by Garth Nix, featuring Mogget and the Disreputable Dog as extras. I adore this series – I discovered these books in my first year of high school and I was absolutely hooked, so I jumped at the chance to draw the titular characters. The two women are here depicted in their Abhorsen robes, preparing to fight off the dead in their role as anti-necromancers.

Those surcoats. THOSE SURCOATS. AUGH. I think I wore my .005 pen down to the nub with the tiny details. Luckily, however, we were able to wrestle Mughi into posing as Mogget so I could get the reference right.

Commissions are closed for now, but might open again in the near future, so watch this space!
