To be honest I disagree with the stance that ‘If you don’t identify as a feminist you are stupid and heartless’ because you can refuse to identify personally as one and still support women’s rights, many women feel uncomfortable with the label and i don’t blame them (many women of colour/trans women/sex workers have very solid reasons to be put off by the mainstream feminism movement), but to id as anti-feminist doesn’t mean you are ‘annoyed’ by the movement, it means you identify as another distinct movement very often composed of neo-nazis/right-wing extremists/MRAs/religious fundamentalists who hate women and the rights they are asking for in any shape of form. Loads of anti-feminists are against the idea of women voting, women having a career, women having rights on their own bodies, are violently transmisogynistic, racist, homophobic, and could downright be classified as a hate group. So when you say you are ‘anti-feminists’ because of willful ignorance and you reduce feminism to one uninformed post made by a young girl on Tumblr, you should have a look at the movement you are supporting yourself first and make sure you really want to identify with it lmao

Has anyone else had the odd experience of Tumblr apparently deciding they should follow a blog, so it decides to make you follow that blog without you ever actually clicking the button to follow that blog?

Because that has happened to me for two days straight now, with blogs I’ve never even looked at before suddenly being on my dash because apparently Tumblr decided I should follow them.

I do not like this.

A little tip for parents with children in school (or for children in school to show their parents)

My mom gave me and my sister two days every semester that she called “mental health days.”

Those were days, that for ANY reason, and without having to tell my mom the reason, we could skip the day of school. We’d just tell her we were taking a mental health day and she’d call the school and let them know we were not coming in.

#1 This helped keep our grades up by lowering our stress levels. I never got a C in any grade school class. The majority of my classes I received A’s. I also took 4 AP classes and they were not weighted. Trust me, it made a difference.

#2 I never felt the need to skip school. I knew if I ever wanted to or needed to my mom would help me.

Your kids are young and need time to recover. They need some days where they can do nothing but stay in bed for no reason. They need their own space where their privacy is respected. It will make a huge difference.

Will do this when I have kids

I would like to add something to this for the teachers too! (I may have already told this story on tumblr but OH WELL I’m telling it again)

One of my math teachers in high school had a policy called The Red Beanbags of Don’t Bother Me. He kept a pile of red beanbags on his desk, and at any time of the day you could go over and take one. From that point on, as long as you were in his classroom with a beanbag on your desk, no one could bother you. He wouldn’t call on you to answer problems, no students were allowed to talk to you, and perhaps most importantly, no one could ask why you took a bean bag that day. The only caveat was that if you used the beanbag more than three times in a semester you had to go talk to the school counselor about it.

I only used the beanbag a handful of times during those 4 years, but it was a godsend when I needed it. I knew people who would camp in his classroom during lunch (or even skip class and stay there all day) under the protection of the beanbag. As a teacher there’s not always a lot you can do for a student suffering mental illness/emotional abuse/ other struggles, but giving them some space and privacy in your class can make a HUGE difference.

^^^ Sometimes I wish I wanted to be a teacher just so I could do stuff like this for kids that aren’t mine

My thoughts on Makeb in SWTOR at the moment, in song form:

This is the planet that never ends, / It just goes on and on my friends; / Some people started mining it / Not knowing what they’d cause, / And they’ll continue mining it forever just because / This is the planet that never ends / ‘Cause it’s an MMO my friends…

Share this and make the right person famous.

Caitlin (Bruce) Jenner is being called things like brave, heroic and strong. The guy in this picture is Army Veteran Noah Galloway who lost an arm and leg to a roadside bomb in Iraq. Noah came second to Caitlin to receive the Arthur Ashe courage award. If Bruce wants to be a woman, fine. But let’s make sure we honor our veterans before we honor someone’s decision to call themselves a woman. Thank you for your service and sacrifice Noah. You are truly brave, heroic and strong.

This is literally the most pathetic shit I have ever read, bar none. lmao

Seriously like, you totally could’ve made a great post about how amazing and brave this person is without putting down another amazing brave person in the process.

Also, Noah Galloway was not really the runner up at all. That was a rumour started on Twitter by a Boston Herald columnist and radio show co-host. Which makes it even more disgusting.

Also, it is worth noting that Arthur Ashe’s courage included fighting for increased education about AIDS and its prevention and fighting to make things better for other people with AIDS.
