A lot of folks are … upset… at the sylvanas trailer and the BFA prepatch and are screaming like babies about blizzard’s bad writing so a lot of them decided to attack golden, who’s a writer at blizzard and was hired earlier this year to be kind of the person that wrangles everything together into a cohesive whole.
Interestingly, this stuff was in motion before she was hired, but hey, she’s a woman in the gaming industry and people are upset and like sending death threats to women in the gaming industry so they consider her a good target
A lot of it is also people who don’t know how to think someone’s writing or characterization of existing characters is shit (Golden has written several/some WoW novels that people have found drivel-ous and/or seen as fucking up characterization–especially in regards to female characters) without death threats. Long time fans being upset about her writing = totally understandable, but sadly being a woman gets more shit for shit writing than dudes. I have seen Knaak have the same writing rants thrown about him, but pretty sure he didn’t get death threat level.
